Chainless Bicycle

The most painstaking thing in an old bicycle is a lose chain. The chain tends to come of the toothed wheel every now and then during cycling and it takes long effort to put it back again. So in this mechanical project directly a shaft is employed to transmit power. When you start paddling bevel gear arrangements transmit the power to shaft which inturn transmits this to the rear wheel again by using gearing arrangements.

Gearless Transmission

Gears have become an integral part in many power transmitting machines. However their biggest drawback is that their manufacturing is very difficult. Also they require proper maintenace and can only transmit power between short distances. Bevel gears (used for transmitting power between shafts at right angle) have a difficult design. But this difficulty can be overcomed by using a a power transmitting element other than gears. This is capable of transmitting power at right angles without any slip or loss. Ground Source Cooling System

The main disadvantage of having an Air conditioner in our homes is that its running as well as initial cost is very much high. So to overcome this problem there is a very simple mechanical mean that can be easily employed in rural areas. The main concept here is that heat exchanger is placed considerably below in earths surface. This is done by digging up earths surface and placing the coil several feets below ground. Any cooling agent like water can be made to run through the coil. This arrangement takes up the advantage that even if the earths surface is hot or cool the temperature below remains constant. Thus during summer season the water can be made to run through the coil using a pump. The heat gained by water from room can be dissipitated below in ground.

Solar cooler

The main aim of this project is to make use of solar energy and to run a cooler. Also our ordinary coolers have a tendency to increase the humdity of air but this cooler is different. It contains a solar cell which is used to absorb solar radiations. The solar cell supply the electric current to a fan which sucks air from the atmosphere and blow it into the room through a swivel. Electromagnetic Braking

Generally all brakes make use of friction for stopping a rotating body. However this produces a large amount of heat and sound energy and also lead to considerable wear and tear due to friction. Thus to overcome this drawback a new concept of braking has been developed that uses electromagnetism to retard a moving object. Cycle Operated Water Pump

A reciprocating pump can work only at low speeds due to cavitation and separation. This speeds are so low (50-60rpm) that they can be easily achieved by human effort. Clothes Dryer

We all love rainy season. But perhaps its biggest drawback is that our clothes dont dry. Well here is a small mechanical project that will help numerous households in solving this crisis. The original dryers of our washing machine just rotate our clothes at high rpm and using centrifugal force dry them. However still perfectly dry clothes cannot be achieved. This can problem can bo overcomed by placing a small pipe inside it which has a heating coil and a blower. The air will be sucked inside the pipe and heated to a required temperature and sprayed on to the clothes. Problem Solved.

Air Jack for automobile

In the middle of nowhere our mum is driving a car and it suddenly gets punctured. The car contains everything jack, spanner, extra wheel but wouldnt it be difficult for a lady to place the jack and then lift a car? From here we get another pretty much simple yet very useful mechanical project. All you need will be 4 airbags ( made of extra strong polythene) placed near the axle (near the front and rear wheel). These bags would be connected to a compressor. So just by a feather touch of a button the air bag near the tyre punctured would inflate and lift up the car. Simple isnt it?
